From December 1, 2024 New South Wales Oztag will introduce an annual subscription fee in line with the roll out of our new competition management platform – Assemble. The introduction of the subscription fee is aimed at supporting the sustainability and growth of Oztag across the State.
The subscription fee will apply to all players, both junior and senior, and will be required in addition to any team fees or registration costs association with local competitions.
Key Points
Fee Structure: From December 1, 2024 NSW Oztag will be switching over to a new online competition management system through Assemble. When you go to Assemble to register for your first competition you will be prompted to pay the mandatory $15 subscription fee. This equates to approximately $1.25 per game. The subscription fee will assist in covering operational costs at a State & National level, including administration and resources for affiliate associations.
Purpose: The subscription fee will provide ongoing investment into the game for the benefit of all stakeholders as the Game continues to grow. Investment from the subscription fee will include resources for the Associations, branding and social media support, the referee Thank You program, referee and coaching accreditation portals and support, development clinics and pathways.
Scope: All registered players regardless of age will be required to pay the fee when they sign up for their first team in 2025.
Benefits: Exclusive membership benefits include discounts & offers through our commercial partners including NRL & Oztag Equipment Supplies (OES). Additionally, the subscription fee helps ensure that Oztag remains accessible and well organised to the standard upheld by Australian Oztag with continued support for associations, referees, players & coaches.
Implementation: The $15 fee will be required to be paid at the time of registration in your first competition for that calendar year. The calendar year starts on December 1.
The introduction of this subscription fee aligns with similar changes across sports, where governing bodies seek to create a more sustainable financial model and ensure that participants have the necessary support and protection while playing. The 2024 Senior State Championships kicks off on Friday 22 March in Coffs Harbour, with 200 teams determined to lay it all on the line for the championship title.
NSW Oztag are set to welcome over three thousand players to Coffs Harbour this week for the long-awaited 2024 Senior State Championships.
The stakes have been raised for the first time in seven years, as players not only compete for a gold medal, but for New South Wales selection ahead of the 2024 State of Origin in September.
As games are taken to another level, NSW Oztag suggests keeping an eye on the following teams.
Central Coast Men’s 40s will be looking to make it five in a row, having claimed gold every year since 2020.
In Sydney’s South, a pumped Mixed 20s side will be gunning for a three-peat, as will their Men’s 60s.
Also striving for a third consecutive title is Central Coast’s Women’s 20s and Women’s 40s.
Following a nail-biting Final series in 2023, NSW Oztag anticipate a highly competitive Men’s 20s division. Souths have the potential to go back-to-back this weekend, but the likes of Heathcote, Baulkham Hills and Cronulla will make it no easy feat.
Teams worth keeping an eye on in the premier Opens divisions are:
Women’s Opens: Penrith, Central Coast and ACT
Mixed Opens: Penrith, Parramatta and Sydney City
As for the Men’s Opens division, the question on everybody’s mind is whether Souths can go back-to-back, or will hot contenders – Penrith, Central Coast, and St George stand in their way?
Central Coast will no doubt be looking to follow down the successful path of their juniors and continue their ten-year Club Championship dynasty – awarded to the most successful association across all divisions. However, there will be plenty of worthy competition hoping to end this incredible streak.
NSW Oztag look forward to welcoming all teams and spectators to the beautiful Coffs Coast, for the highly anticipated Senior State Cup tournament.
Teams are encouraged to book in for their official team photograph with IB Images via their online booking system, which will place them in the priority system for action shots.
Games will commence at 9.30am on Friday. Keep up to date with the live fixtures and ladder via SportsFix.
