by | Feb 28, 2024 | Latest News, NSW Oztag, Tournaments

The 2024 Junior State Champions have been crowned following a spectacular three days of Oztag in Coffs Harbour.

The much-anticipated Junior State Championships 11-17s kicked off on Friday 23 February, which saw a record 325 teams across 14 divisions determined to take home the title.

Sunday’s Finals saw C.ex Stadium come alive with the roar of spectators on the edge of their seats as numerous games resulted in a one-point difference, or came down to exhilarating extra time drop offs.

In torrential rain, skills were put to the test as it became a game of field position, defense and set completion.

However, with New South Wales Origin selection on the table, teams proved even more determined to leave nothing in the tank – giving their all right to the full-time buzzer .

The clinical Baulkham Hills Girls 17s continued their dynasty, defeating ACT 3-0 to secure their eighth gold medal – a remarkable achievement to win every year since Under 10s.

Following down the same successful path is the Souths Girls 14s, who won their sixth consecutive championship, and Central Coast Boys 13s who made it four in-a-row.

The Central Coast Boys 11s went through the whole tournament not only undefeated, but without conceding a single point. However, Nepean came out on top when it mattered, beating them 1-0 in the Grand Final.

Central Coast Boys 17s ended their Junior campaign on a high, defeating first-time Grand Finalist, Inner West in a nail-biting 4-3 clash.
