NSW Senior State Cup: DAY 1 WRAP
The 2020 NSW Senior State Cup is underway with day one deemed a major success.
Players and officials were welcomed with faultless weather conditions, and pristine fields, ready to lay their bodies on the line for the game they love.
Over the next two days we will continue to see some of the best of our game compete for the Senior State Champions title, at a tournament run like never before.
Friday proved this tournament as a Covid-safe spectacle. 148 attending teams abided by the strict regulations in place despite it being a distinctly different atmosphere.
There are many things that help define our great game, from a simple handshake with a rival opposition to a roaring crowd in the final seconds of a drop off game.
But the 2020 Senior State Cup will go down in Oztag history for reasons other than the absence of these things. This tournament has bought a state together at a time where mateship, support and a little bit of tag is needed more than ever.
Segregated into two venues, five zones and two time slots, the tournament ran exceptionally well, the last game wrapping up at 8pm right before the storm rolled in.
The following teams remained undefeated at the conclusion of day one, putting themselves in a promising position heading into day two of games.
