The draws and pools for the 2019 NSW City Vs Country representative tournament have now been released.
The tournament which will take place on Saturday, the 8th of June (Seniors) and Sunday, the 9th of June (Juniors) at the Central Coast Sporting Complex in Tuggerah is now in it’s 2nd year.
In the 2018 Junior City Vs Country tournament, it was the Western City Scorpions who dominated, winning seven titles out of a possible 14.
Last year the Senior City Vs Country tournament saw City claim four titles and the Northern Country Knights closely behind with three titles.

The teams for the NSW City Vs Country tournament were selected from the form of the players that participated in the recent 2019 NSW Junior and Senior State Cups.
The NSW City Vs Country tournament is a chance to play with players from different regions and will hopefully create more lasting friendships, an ethos that Oztag prides itself in.

12-year old Canberra girl Eden Morrissey said she held back tears when she found out that she’d been picked in the Southern Country Pride Girls 12s team to play at the 2019 NSW City v Country tournament.
“My friend Kirby said that the teams were being announced so we looked on the Oztag website and I saw my name and I was just so excited,” Morrissey told Oztag Australia.
“I felt very proud of myself and I was almost about to cry, it was amazing.”
Morrissey has been playing Oztag locally at Calwell in Canberra and for ACT for several years now, but said 2019 has been her best season yet.
“I feel like this State Cup was probably my best year, I was really proud of myself. I trained really hard and I trusted myself that I was good enough to do different things. My coach was also really good this year, she taught me a lot,” she said.
The 12-year old will play alongside ACT teammates Kaitlyn Arnold, Lily Quigley, Meaghann Scott and Sienna Bryant in the Pride team picked from the best Oztag players in all regional areas south of the Sydney Harbour Bridge.
“There’s going to be so many different experiences, playing with new people. I’m excited to meet the girls from Shellharbour and Wollongong and hopefully we make lots of new friends,” Morrissey said.
“I guess we’ll just have to meet together and train whenever we can. I think we’ll have lots in common because we all love Oztag and then the coaches will help bring us together as one team.”
While Morrissey is no stranger to representative Oztag, the young star knows the City v Country tournament will be a big step up.
“It’s going to be a lot different to playing for ACT. I need to keep fit over the next few months and you’re going to have to move fast and keep the game going.
“You’ll need to run onto the ball, run straight and hard and stay focussed in all the matches.”
Southern Country Pride will take on Northern Country Knights, Southern City Seahawks and Western City Scorpions in a round robin tournament on the Central Coast in June.
“I’m excited to play the Scorpions because they have the Baulkham Hills girls in their team.
“Knights will also be really good because they have the Central Coast girls so I’m excited to see how we go against them.”
While Morrissey knows the competition will be tough, she’s confident her side can leave the Central Coast with some silverware.
“I think we can win, hopefully.
“It would be amazing to win and it would show that all of us are really good Oztag players and that we know how to play well together as a team.”

Edmund Rice will get a chance to win their third straight NSW Schools State Championship later this year, after taking out the Boys 11/12s South Coast Regional tournament this week.
The South Coast team have won the past two Champions of Champions tournaments and have had their eyes set on claiming a three-peat all year.
“They’re a really talented group of boys and we’ve really enjoyed watching them over the past few years,” Edmund Rice coach Josh Timpano told Oztag Australia.
“A few of the boys played in the Australian U16s team last year and a lot of them play reps with Vipers and Shellharbour.”
While Edmund Rice were favourites going into the opening regional tournament of 2019, Timpano said they didn’t have things all their own way.
“The final against Kiama was really tight. It was 1-1 at full time, then in the drop-off Kiama scored in the first set.
“Our guys managed to hit back straight away, then it went back and forth for a while before we found a way to score the match winner.”
Kiama featured in all three Boys grand finals but weren’t able to claim a title. Edmund Rice took out the Boys 9/10s with a 4-2 win in the final, while Figtree beat Kiama 4-2 in the Boys 7/8s.
“We actually entered a second senior team and they made it to the semi finals as well so there is plenty of Oztag talent floating around the school,” Timpano added.
In the girls, Holy Spirit Bellambi beat Oak Flats in extra time to claim the Girls 11/12s title. St Mary’s beat Figtree 4-3 in the Girls 9/10s final and Warilla were too good for St Mary’s in the Girls 7/8s.
The winners of each division will compete at the Champions of Champions tournament later this year.

Central Coast have taken out the 2019 NSW Senior State Cup Club Championships on a perfect Coffs Harbour afternoon.
The women did the majority of the damage for the perennial powerhouse, with Central Coast taking out the Women’s Opens, Women’s Masters and Women’s 20s divisions, as well as the Mens 35s and Mens 50s.
Penrith finished in second, ahead of Cronulla, Kiama and Razorbacks.
