Postponed NSW Senior State Championships 2020

Postponed NSW Senior State Championships 2020

The rescheduled tournament will now be played at C-ex Stadium, Coffs Harbour, Saturday 1st, Sunday 2nd & Monday 3rd August, 2020.

We know no matter what date we decided it would not suit everyone. The stadium is in high demand with many sports already booked in.

Working with council we decided this was our best option giving plenty of time, hopefully for this pandemic to subside, and players to organize work & family.

We now look forward to the tournament & we hope all teams can make it.

The 2020 NSW Senior State Championships is Postponed

The 2020 NSW Senior State Championships is Postponed

Australian Oztag have made the decision to POSTPONE the 2020 NSW Senior State Championships that were due to be played from March 27-29.

Due to the current world pandemic of COVID-19 (Coronavirus) and the Public Health Order adopted today with the banning of unnecessary gatherings of more than 500 people, AO feel we are left with no other decision but to postpone the tournament.

While the decision was not made lightly, we are keeping in mind the severity of this infection and are following the directives handed down by the Australian Government as well as the World Health Organisation.

The tournament will be rescheduled later in the year TBA.

High Performance Academy Selected from City Vs Country Series

High Performance Academy Selected from City Vs Country Series

In November 2019, Australian Oztag conducted the inaugural High Performance Academy (HPA), held at the Sydney Academy of Sport, which was deemed a big success.

The top 19 males and top 19 females in the country between the ages of 13-15 were identified and selected to take part in the HPA.

With the teams and venue announcement for the 2020 NSW Junior City Vs Country series imminent, this will be the tournament for New South Wales based players where the HPA selectors will be monitoring players.

For Queensland based players, Queensland Oztag and HPA selectors will nominate players from the recent QLD Junior State Cup.

This year’s High Performance Academy which will be led by former NRL player (263 games), Michael Buettner will again be held at the Sydney Academy of Sport in Narrabeen, from 13th to 15th November.

All players that are selected for the 2020 HPA will receive full HPA kit allocation, accommodation and meals, covered by Australian Oztag for the duration of the HPA. Queensland players will also have their flights covered by Australian Oztag. To read about the 2019 HPA and the players selected, click here.
