Unfortunately, the NSW Senior State Championships, to be played Friday 19th, Saturday 20th & Sunday 21st March 2021 is postponed.
The new dates are Friday 14th, Saturday 15th & Sunday 16th May 2021.
The weather forecast for Thursday through to Sunday is a very high chance of rain (80% to 95%). The range predicted to fall is anywhere between 83 to 180mm.
In normal circumstances this would not prevent us from playing on several of the fields however, Coffs Harbour like the rest of NSW, has experienced above average rain fall. Coffs Harbour’s average rainfall for a year is 1600mm yet 1200mm has fallen since January & 300mm of this in the last month. The significance of this is the amount of water still in the ground. If the minimum rain predicted falls the fields will still be water logged and unplayable.
So, after considering the weather forecast and liaising with Councils Stadium Team and Greenkeepers, Australian Oztag believes the only decision in the best interest of all, is to postpone the tournament now before anyone begins their travels. It would be reckless to roll the dice and travel to Coffs only to then call it off when the rain falls.
By making this decision now we hope to minimize the impact and allow teams to make arrangements with accommodation & travel.
Coffs Harbour City Council, Mayor Cr Denise Knight commented “Coffs Harbour has been the home of OzTag for many years, and of course while it is disappointing to reschedule, we understand. Over the last year we have become much more adept to change. We are experiencing a huge amount rain of late and there are still flood warnings in place. We thank Bill and the Australian OzTag team for their foresight in making a decision to postpone to a more optimal time. Thanks also to all our tourism and accommodation providers for their flexibility in rescheduling bookings for the revised dates. We look forward to welcoming players officials and their guests again in May.”

The prestigious City v Country tournament will return in 2021 for Senior prospects, with a new tournament format at hand.
Selected from the 2021 NSW Senior State Cup held in Coffs Harbour, it is an opportunity for players to represent their region alongside the game’s best.
Senior City v Country will be played on Saturday 12 June at Central Coast Regional Sporting Complex, Tuggerah NSW, with Juniors to be played the following day – Sunday 13 June.
The tournament format differs from that of the Juniors and previous years. It will be played as a three-game series, between only two regions – City and Country.
Teams will play three 40-minute games, with no Finals.
City teams will be represented by associations in the Sydney basin from Hornsby in the North, to Penrith in the West, Campbelltown in the South and the East coastline. Any associations outside this border will represent Country.
City representatives will be selected from the top four finishing City teams in Division 1 at the NSW Senior State Cup.
Country representatives will be selected from the top four finishing Country teams in Division 1 at the NSW Senior State Cup. If there are not four teams in Division 1, they can be selected from Division 2 teams.
2021 Senior State Cup Coaches will be required to complete the Senior Rating Form for their own team, based on player performance at the NSW State Cup tournament. The form must be submitted by Wednesday 24 March.

The last of the 2021 NSW Junior State Cup champions have been crowned following a successful four days of competition at Bass Hill.
This year marked the third Junior State Cup (9’s-11’s) tournament held at the Crest Sporting Complex in Bass Hill and once again, it did not disappoint.
Over the course of the four days, 122 teams put their months of training and preparation to test in the hope of finishing on top.
The level of skill and tenacity of teams was the driving force behind the competitive games, however the display of sportsmanship throughout the tournament was second to none.

The 2021 Junior State Cup Club Champions has come down to a single point following some exhilarating Finals from the 9’s, all the way to the 17’s.
Australian Oztag (AO) wish to congratulate Central Coast who finished in first place on 78 points; in a close second on 77 points was Souths and trailing slightly behind in third was Baulkham Hills on 73 points.
AO were extremely pleased with the running of both Junior State Cup Tournaments, in Coffs Harbour and Bass Hill. The success is a credit to everyone who attended; their compliance with regulations and consistent support was greatly appreciated.

The second half of the tournament is well underway here in Bass Hill, with the Girls 9’s, 10’s, 11’s and Boys 10’s division two playing out their first four round games.
Teams were welcomed with wet conditions this morning that put their skills to test, but that didn’t interfere with the display of talent over the course of the day.
The abundance of tight games suggests that we are in store for some quality finals tomorrow – full of speed, energy and a lot of awesome hairstyles.

The tournament’s first four Champions have been crowned on day two of the 2021 NSW Junior State Cup (9’s-11’s).
The pristine conditions undoubtedly set the tone for today’s matches – the high standard of Oztag proved testament to all teams’ preparation and commitment.
Today’s atmosphere was a product of teams consistently putting on a show for the sidelines. The energy was contagious and the skill, remarkable.
The greatest upset of the day took place when the East Hills Boys 11’s beat the two-year, undefeated reigning champions, Cronulla in the Division one Grand Final.
East Hills were 3-0 down and fought back to even the scores right before the full-time buzzer, the 3-all draw sending them into an exhilarating drop-off decider.
Also consisting of tight games was the Boys 10’s Division one. With such an even playing field, all top eight qualifying teams were capable of taking out the title.
The Grand Final, livestreamed on Field one was tied up at 3-all come full-time. But after a nail-biting 2-1 extra time, Central Coast came away with the win – defeating last year’s premiers, Baulkham Hills.

Heading into day three of the tournament, Central Coast remain at the top of the Club Champions ladder.

Day one of the annual NSW Junior State Cup (9’s-11’s) has come to a successful conclusion, the wet conditions deemed no issue for the young talents at Bass Hill.
Today saw the Boys 9’s, 10’s and 11’s divisions jump straight into it, the wide display of talent and sportsmanship proved how much passion lays among these teams.
Following a successful Junior State Cup in Coffs Harbour, Australian Oztag (AO) were confident in running another Covid-safe event.
The new tournament format, including two zones, morning and afternoon sessions and a game on/game off configuration was quickly adopted by all players and spectators.
Despite the wet turf and on and off rain, today consisted of fast, quality matches that saw players lay their bodies on the line for their teammates.

A separate Covid Plan has been developed for Friday and Sunday Finals as AO remain aware that numerous teams will vacate and gathering numbers will decline in both zones.
The intention is to let families in to watch, however, this will be governed by the numbers. A QR Code will be walked around for extra’s to sign in.
